Underage

Another exciting day out on Saturday for our U8 and U10 girls who travelled to Castletown Finea for the next round of LGFA GoGames blitzes.

Well done to our U8s who played three fantastic matches against Ballycomoyle, Ballynacargy and our hosts, CFCW. This super talented team are improving massively with every game they play, and did themselves and the club proud with their fantastic performance.

The U10s had a great day of football, playing two Shandonagh teams and CFCW in three very exciting contests. The girls showcased all their skills, with equally brilliant defending and attacking play on display throughout. Well done to all the girls!

Thank you to our hosts, CFCW who did a fantastic job, running a very well organised and enjoyable morning of football for all the girls!

Inny Shamrocks U15s win in Championship

Our Inny Shamrocks U15s had a great win on Friday evening in the first round of the Championship against St. Michael’s which was played at Castletown-Finea.

We were down a few players due to injury and holidays but each of the lads that took to the field can be more than happy with their evenings work.

The Inny lads started at a hectic pace and built up a convincing lead midway through the first half. A St. Michael’s resurgence and several successive scores towards the end of the first half reduced the Inny lead to only two points as Jimmy Weldon sounded the half time whistle.

Half time score: St. Michael’s 1-5 Inny Shamrocks 1-7.

St. Michael’s started the second half in determined fashion and an early goal made it look like Inny Shamrocks had a real battle on their hands.

However, our lads steadied the ship with three quick fire goals which resulted from fine attacking football, slick passing and impressive link-play.

Two further goals towards the latter stages of the half put the tie beyond the reach of a brave and committed St. Michael’s team who battled to the end and made Inny Shamrocks work hard for every score.

Well done lads on a great start to the championship.

Final Score: St. Michael’s 3-12   Inny Shamrocks 6-12.

Inny Shamrocks U13s defeated in Championship

Hard luck to our Inny Shamrocks U13s who narrowly lost out to Milltownpass on Wednesday evening in the 1st round of the Championship. The lads battled hard to the very end and played some great football but just came up short against a talented Milltownpass outfit. Well done lads, early days and plenty of games to go.

Final Score: Milltownpass 3-18   Inny Shamrocks 4-10.

Westmeath Ladies Minor Footballers

Well done to Ciara and Maeve Molloy and Westmeath Ladies Minor Football team who booked their place in the 2022 Leinster Minor C Championship Final on Wednesday evening with a 7-10 to 3-9 win over Offaly at Bretland Park in  Clara.

Westmeath were 3-5 to 2-5 ahead at the break but a strong showing in the opening ten minutes of the second half proved fruitful. Offaly worked hard throughout and can be exceptionally proud of their efforts this evening.

Westmeath will take on Wicklow in the Minor C Final on July 6th, details to be confirmed! Well done Ciara and Maeve.
